CODE OF ETHICS, CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOUR
 
Smash Courts is committed to providing a safe and positive environment.  We expect appropriate behavior at all times and expects players and visitors to conduct themselves with respect for all individuals participating in our activities and events.

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Individuals have a responsibility to maintain and enhance the dignity and self-esteem of other individuals by:

● demonstrating respect for every person regardless of physical characteristics, athletic ability, age, ancestry, colour, race, citizenship, ethnic origin, creed, disability, family, economic or marital status, gender identity or expression, or sexual orientation;
● focusing comments or criticism appropriately and avoiding public criticism of athletes, coaches, officials, organizers, volunteers, employees, or members;
● consistently demonstrating a positive spirit of sportsmanship, sport leadership, and ethical conduct;
● acting, when appropriate, to correct or prevent practices that are unjustly discriminatory;
• consistently treating individuals fairly and reasonably;
● ensuring adherence to the rules of Pickleball and the spirit of those rules.
• Respect the property of Smash Courts and others
• Adhere to all federal, provincial, municipal and host country laws; 
 
Refrain from:
 
● consuming alcohol, tobacco products or recreational drugs
● verbally or physically abusive or intimidating language and behavior 
● any form of harassment, including sexual harassment; ● the use of profane, insulting, or otherwise offensive language;
● the use of power or authority in an attempt to coerce another person 

Code of Conduct & Behavior
 
Respect for Others:
- Treat all with courtesy and respect.
- Avoid behavior that may be perceived as intimidating, offensive, or disrespectful.
 
Fair Play:
- Play by the rules of the game and encourage others to do the same.
- Accept victory and defeat graciously, maintaining good sportsmanship at all times.
- Respect your court times, please ensure you have left the court before the expiration of your booking time.
 
Inclusive Atmosphere:
- Embrace diversity and inclusion, welcoming players of all backgrounds, ages, and skill levels.
- Avoid discriminatory language or actions.
 
Safety First:
- Prioritize the safety of yourself and others on and around the court.
- Report any unsafe conditions promptly to staff.

Equipment Care:
- Respect equipment and facilities, using them responsibly.
- Report any damaged equipment or facilities to staff.

Honesty and Integrity:
- Maintain honesty in all interactions, both on and off the court.
- Avoid cheating, and report any suspected violations of rules.

Communication:
- Communicate openly and constructively with others.
- Resolve conflicts in a respectful and timely manner, seeking assistance from staff if necessary.

Community Engagement:
- Participate in club events and activities, contributing positively to the overall community.
- Encourage a sense of camaraderie and friendship.

Adhere to Smash Court Policies & Pickleball Canada Code of Conduct:
- Abide by all policies and guidelines

Consequences for Violations:
Violations of this code of conduct may result in disciplinary action, not limited to warnings, suspension or expulsion or police involvement. 
 
*Smash Courts may, and in its sole discretion, modify Policies and Rules without notice.  It's your responsibility to know and follow the most current Policies and Rules.  All approved signs posted on the premises shall be considered a part of the Policies and Rules of Smash Courts.
